- 人は不合理で、わからず屋で、わがままな存在だ。それでもなお、人を愛しなさい。
(People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love them anyway.)
- 何か良いことをすれば、隠された利己的な動機があるはずだと人に責められるだろう。それでもなお、良いことをしなさい。
(If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway.)
- 成功すれば、うその友だちと本物の敵を得ることになる。それでもなお、成功しなさい。
(If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.)
- 今日の善行は明日になれば忘れられてしまうだろう。それでもなお、良いことをしなさい。
(The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.)
- 正直で率直なあり方はあなたを無防備にするだろう。それでもなお、正直で率直なあなたでいなさい。
(Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway.)
- 最大の考えをもった男女は、最小の心をもった男女によって撃ち落されるかもしれない。それでもなお、大きな考えをもちなさい。
(The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds. Think big anyway.)
- 人は弱者をひいきにはするが、勝者の後にしかついていかない。それでもなお、弱者のために戦いなさい。
(People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for a few underdogs anyway.)
- 何年もかけて築いたものが一夜にして崩れ去るかもしれない。それでもなお、築きあげなさい。
(What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.)
- 人が本当に助けを必要としていても、実際に助けの手を差し伸べると攻撃されるかもしれない。それでもなお、人を助けなさい。
(People really need help but may attack you if you do help them. Help people anyway.)
- 世界のために最善を尽くしても、その見返りにひどい仕打ちを受けるかもしれない。それでもなお、世界のために最善を尽くしなさい。
(Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.)
